FRENCH COMPETITIVITY POLES
VIDEO & NETWORKS, Brittany
The SCALIMAGE projet goal is to study and implement scalable video encoding. This new encoding technology aims at providing a solution to the exponential growth in the volume of broadcasted content, the multiplication of reception platforms, and the diversity of the means of transport and broadcasting. In this project, CAPS is working on code optimization techniques.
SERENITEC global objective is to analyze the web application code on the base of trial load methods and former knowledges stored in a reasonig system from cases allowing the detection of security lacks and their resolution. It aims at increasing the expert's efficiency and productivity without replacing him.
EUROPEAN PROJECTS
MILEPOST is a project funded by Information Society Technologies of the European Union under the 6th Framework Program. Its overall objective is to develop compiler technologies that can automatically learn how to best optimize programs for re-configurable heterogeneous embedded processors.

PARMA is an ITEA2 funded project that includes HPC players from France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom. The PARMA key objective of the consortium is to help the HPC community to fully benefit from the processor race while developing inovative, flexible and open technologies to take full advantage of the multicore technology.

SYSTEM@TIC PARIS-REGION
The FAME2 and POPS projects aim at designing the next generation of HPC servers along with the software tools that will help porting applications to the massive parallelism these machines offer.
Shared memory multiprocessors will be associated as clusters to create high power servers that meet the requirements of the high performance computing (HPC) applications.

(in french)
The global purpose of the project Parallelization for the Simulation of Materials, PARMAT, is to increase significantly the power of specific simulation software by removing the bottlenecks appearing at the parallelization of the application code. New scalable algorithms are developped and tested on massively parallel machines with the petaflopic machines in view.
MINALOGIC, Grenoble

The SCEPTRE project goal is to develop a toolkit for helping the implementation of multimedia algorithms on a reconfigurable multiprocessor network. In particular, this toolkit should help to explore and analyze hardware / software tradeoffs. The goal is to drastically reduce application port time and to obtain flexible realizations over a family of algorithms, thus increasing the lifespan of each development. In this project, CAPS studies the usage of coprocessors specific to an application.
